Idaho Pasture Pigs
Idaho Pasture Pigs
We raise Idaho Pasture Pigs at Perch Farm. Idaho Pasture Pigs (IPPs) are a heritage breed specifically developed to thrive on pasture-based systems. They are a cross between Duroc, Old Berkshire, and Kunekune breeds, resulting in a pig that is friendly, manageable, and well-suited for grazing.
Our pigs forage in our woods and graze in our pastures, reducing the need for grain while improving soil health through their rooting and fertilizing behaviors. Their gentle nature and efficient grazing make them ideal for regenerative farming, enhancing biodiversity and creating healthier ecosystems.
Additionally, Idaho Pasture Pigs produce delicious, nutrient dense pork. Their natural diet creates a deeply marbled, tender pork with a gorgeous, deep color. We use trusted butchers in the greater Cincinnati area to provide our customers with clean cuts of high quality meat. Our pork is available for purchase at our Farm Market or through our Meat CSA. We also offer whole hog and half hog options listed below.
We are proud to be registered breeders with the Idaho Pasture Pig Registry and all of our pigs and piglets are certified and registered. Please email or call us for more information about breeding and feeder pig availability.
Boar: Pumba
Sow: Penelope
We have whole and half hogs available for purchase with fully customizable cuts.
Our pork is $4.50 per per pound plus processing fees. A whole hog is approximately 150-250 pounds. A half hog is approximately 75-125 pounds. Please keep in mind that there will be about a 30% difference between the hanging weight and the final amount of meat you receive, as some weight is lost to bones and trimming during processing.
When you purchase a whole or half hog, you will have the opportunity to select your cuts of meats straight from the butcher. We will take care of transportation and contact you when the meat is available for pick up at the farm. Please see availability on the calendar below or email us for more information.
